Arteta 'tired' of Goodison exit talk

Mon 12 Jan, 12:30 PM

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta finds rumours linking him with an exit "a little tiring" and says he is "proud and happy" at Goodison Park. The Spanish schemer has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Manchester City already in the transfer window but insists he isn't looking to leave the Toffees - and wants to help them back into Europe.

He told Nuts: "It's a little tiring. I've always said I'm very proud to represent this club and am happy here.

"We should be aiming for a top-six finish because I feel we're playing the best quality football for many seasons."

Having not played for Spain at senior level yet, the 26-year-old becomes eligible for England duty next year.

But he added: "My ambition is to play for Spain. Sorry - playing for England is not in my future!"

  3. There were always so many Spaniard moving abroad from Spain to play in other League than La Liga(Brazilian, too). Mikel Arteta is one of those who made names in Everton's record book. But let's take a glimpes and take Becks and Hargreaves away from the picture, beside than SPL, Welsh League, Northen Ireland or Ireland League, why there is no Englishman playing wide aboard in other league? Is it because BPL is the best? Are the players lack of physical strength and mental strength? Playing abroad does help to promote English football, and England needs player like that. Agree, fellow-comment posters?
