Rochdale boss Keith Hill insists he was not happy with "negative" speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Walsall.The League One outfit are searching for a new boss following the departure of Jimmy Mullen on Saturday and reports linked Hill with the job.

Hill has assembled a talented young side at Spotland and has gone to great lengths to distance himself from the Saddlers post.

He said: "Speculation works both ways and it can be either a positive or a negative and I think that Sunday was definitely a negative.

"I am 100% committed to Rochdale Football Club, the players and the staff.

"I am really happy with the current form and the position that we are in the league and looking forward to repeating the form that we have shown in the last 23 games of the previous two seasons. If we can repeat that then we are on our way."
