Duff banned for cup tie with Hoops

Mon 12 Jan, 04:30 PM

Burnley manager Owen Coyle will be without Michael Duff through suspension for the FA Cup third-round replay at home to QPR on Tuesday. The defender was sent off in Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Swansea and serves a one-match ban, which should allow Clarke Carlisle to return to the starting line-up to face his former club.

Carlisle was dropped after the 4-1 defeat at Tottenham in the Carling Cup but looks almost certain to line up alongside Steven Caldwell.

Midfielder Joey Gudjonsson should again be passed fit for action after shaking off a hamstring strain to be a surprise inclusion against Swansea on Saturday.

Fellow midfielder Remco van der Schaaf is struggling with a kidney complaint and remains sidelined but Wade Elliott is available as his suspension does not come into effect until the weekend.
