Giggs speculation pleases Ridsdale

Mon 12 Jan, 05:15 PM

Rumours linking Ryan Giggs with a summer move to Cardiff is proof of jthe clubs progression, according to chairman Peter Ridsdale.Giggs, who is out of contract with Manchester United at the end of the season, has been touted as a possible target for his hometown club.

The Bluebirds, who reached last season's FA Cup final, are currently challenging for promotion to the Premier League and are preparing to bring the curtain down on their time at Ninian Park before moving into a new stadium.

Ridsdale refuses to give anything away as to whether the club will make a move for the 35-year-old, but he insists being mentioned in the same breath as one of the most decorated players in the British game is something in itself.

"The fact people are prepared to believe we are capable of signing a player like Ryan Giggs does go to show how far Cardiff City has moved forward in recent years," said Ridsdale in the South Wales Echo.

  3. Bit ironic though if he went to his home town after a career with a club that is supported by people who have abandoned their home towns.

  6. Giggsy should remain at ManU and coach the youngsters. His attitude, skills and intelligence will rub on them and influence them into better players. His presence alone would be a good motivation for them because he is such an exemplar that they could emulate. Good luck to him on the day he finally hangs his boots.
