Hull boss Phil Brown feels "14 teams are in a relegation fight" this season - and is hoping to make additions to his squad in the next week. The Tigers made a fantastic start to their first Premier League campaign but have struggled of late, picking up just one win in their last 12 matches.
They remain eighth in the table but Brown accepts there is still work to do to guarantee top-flight survival.
The manager believes teams are learning how to play against Hull and feels he will have to venture into the transfer market.
Brown hopes to get his business done quickly and has hinted that he is close to pushing through a couple of deals.
"I think 14 teams in the division are in a relegation fight, excluding the top six," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail following the weekend defeat to Everton.
"We need better quality players and we're looking to make additions in the next week.
"In the first 10 games, teams weren't giving us the respect we deserved and didn't know what Hull City are about.
"Now all of a sudden, they do and the cutting edge was maybe the difference between the teams."
