Ferrari 'won't supply Honda engines'

Eurosport - Mon, 12 Jan 22:57:00 2009

Formula One constructors' world champions Ferrari have all but ruled out supplying engines to whoever takes over Honda.

FORMULA 1 2008 Honda Racing Team - 0

"The chance of us supplying engines to Honda is close to zero," team boss Stefano Domenicali said at Ferrari's 2009 car launch.

Ferrari had said earlier this month that they would be prepared to supply engines to any new owners but no deal was in place.

Japanese manufacturer Honda stunned the sport a month ago when they announced they were pulling out both as a constructor and engine provider due to the world financial crisis.

The Brackley-based team, run by former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn and chief executive Nick Fry, have said they are considering some 12 serious offers with 'global players' among those interested.

However they are running out of time, with the season opening in Australia on March 29.

  1. Oops, my bad they actually are red, and they look very much like the Ferrari. If you go to their website, you can even picture Massa driving one. Look for the 'Out Front' models.

  2. You guys should race a Gravely if you want a V8. Of course, its British Racing Green, so it might bring bad luck.

  4. Jas: Its still going to be a Force India chassis, aero-package, etc. Its just a Mercedes engine and a Mclaren KERS that they are getting.

  5. Ginger_Gitt, that is a good point about the customer Ferrari engines in the back of the Force India, but can you explain how the Toro Rosso team were able to get such performance out of their car? Isnt the new Force India going to be a rebranded Mclaren rather than just a Mercedez-Benz engine supply? Please correct me if Im wrong

  6. MGA: not really team boss type, wouldn't mind team tactician though, I believe there's a guy who worked for Ferrari who might be available to help us in the pits, works been thin on the ground since a mishap at some traffic lights back in October while he was in Singapore.

  8. As for the article, whats the big deal? The Ferrari engine was so good in the 2008 Force India that they immediately went out and signed a new contract - with Mclaren Mercedes. Says alot for the Italian powerplant that a back marker terminated their contractual arrangement in favour of someone else.

I can sort you out with a gearbox, the beds at the company i work for have a three speed setting for lowering them, that any good for you? And given the hair raising ride of a V8 in a lawn mower, may I also provide a commode from the warehouse as a "bucket seat" - it might be needed!!

    From ginger_gitt, on Mon 12 Jan 10:35PM
  10. Actually they do Bill. Haven't you ever seen them race lawnmowers on the Speed Channel? Some of these things are crazy. Again, I personally like the new cars. Be really interesting to see them on the track. Maybe the new cars will even the playing field a little. Maybe............

  20. Moron you insult Honda. They had a good engine and it was the car that let them down. The car incidently designed by the ex BAR team.
If you want a road car you would be wise to buy a Honda who have the best reliability rating in the world. Meanwhile Ferrari and none of their parent company's cars even get in the top twenty.
