Force India have said they are confident that the Formula One team's new car will prove to be a more competitive vehicle this season than the one that struggled towards the back of the grid in a disappointing debut campaign in 2008.
Last November, Force India signed a five-year partnership deal with McLaren and Mercedes and will replace their Ferrari engines with a complete drivetrain package in the new season.
"The new car, VJM02, is under construction. It will have a McLaren gearbox and Mercedes engine, which is a big change from VJM01," team co-owner Vijay Mallya was quoted as saying by the Indian media.
"We are going to unveil it at Jerez (Spain) in early March," the Indian billionaire added. The team will also use a KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) designed by McLaren and Mercedes and is rushing to ensure the car is ready for the season-opening race in Melbourne on March 29.
"We will have six days to test, which I think is enough," Mallya added.
"Besides, the facilities at our Silverstone factory is up to the mark and I think we would be ready for the first race."
Force India failed to score a point in its first season and confirmed last month that Italian Giancarlo Fisichella and German Adrian Sutil will race for them in 2009.

Your point is Hilary?
I'm a fan of F1 and i have been for years. I do not, however, work in or around any F1 team. I am not an F1 journalist and I, like everyone else who posts here, obtain all of my knowledge of of F1 from 2nd hand sources at closest. Unlike all of the 'experts' here, I do not presume to have any valid opinion on any matter involving F1 and anything I say would simply be useless, (and very biased), conjecture. I apologise if I have underestimated anyone's fantastic psychic capacity to know things about which they have absolutely no first hand knowledge, as truly fascinating as it is to read.
More than 62,900 fans have signed an online petition urging the FIA to reconsider the penalty that stripped Lewis Hamilton of victory in the Belgian Grand Prix.
The way that Hamilton was punished for gaining an advantage when he cut the chicane in the closing stages of the race has infuriated fans.
And one has now set up a petition to garner support for Hamilton's penalty to be overturned.
Marnio, were you unfortunately dropped on the head as a child! If so I then understand the stupidity.
Will be great if Force India can complete 2009 with some points finishes.
good luck force india.show the greatness of india
