But competitions are all about playing and winning matches to arrive at the ultimate prize ie. "The Cup". If UEFA decide, as they have done, to alter the format and as a consequence different qualification rules apply and as a further consequence many more games have to be played in order to win the competition, we are not comparing like with like and there lies the major difference. It is the same competition but the playing format to win it, is miles apart from the the old European Cup. I do not have to visit UEFA to have these facts confirmed.
