The BBC has announced that former Jordan technical director Gary Anderson will join its commentary line-up for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Anderson joins the network as technical analyst, "providing insight from the pitlane on all the latest developments in strategy and technology from the team garages."
The BBC has also confirmed that James Allen will become the lead commentator for Radio 5 live, with Jennie Gow announced as pitlane reporter.
As announced earlier this year, Jake Humphrey will once again lead the BBC's coverage on television, with Ben Edwards acting as a commentator.
"We're delighted to welcome Ben, James, Gary and Jennie to the BBC presentation team," said the BBC's Head of Formula 1 Ben Gallop.
"They bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge, and huge passion for the sport which will help bring the season to life for our audiences on TV, radio and online."
Allen added: "I'm really happy. 5 live is the default setting on my radio at home and in the car, it's a great institution and I'm proud to be part of it.
"Anyone who has followed my career knows I love a challenge. This is a time of change in our industry and I see great opportunity here, thanks to the unique place Radio 5 live has in this sport."

Up until now (obviously), Gary Anderson was the technical specialist for the Singapore and Malaysia's Astro coverage of F1. He has to be one of the most boring people on the TV and to my knowledge has little up to date knowledge of whats going on in the sport. if he has the knowledge, he cannot convey it to the watching and listening public.
The guy is a waste of space. I wish I was back in the UK and watching have the races with decent commentary than all with that bumbling buffoon and his co commentator Steve Slater. If that guy says one more time "go on, annoy the neighbors, crank up the volume and lets savour to the sound of those V8 engines" I'm gonna throw my TV off the 21st floor.
Count yourselves lucky. We have to pay to watch all the races and the coverage is worse than it used to be in the UK with ITV. They put on so many adverts in the race, it can sometimes become un-watchable.
I have longed believed Ben Edwards to be the best motor sport commentator, James Allen and Gary Anderson are top blokes. Gary Anderson teaming up with Eddie is re-uniting the top two from Jordan. Shame, I would have got rid of Eddie. I would have appointed Nick Damon as pit-lane reporter.
Cant afford Sky and wont watch half a season on the Beeb so after 30 years goodbye F1
Simples !! Sky + it watch start fast search on speed 12 or 30 until last lap . Simples sky + qualy as before then watch last 1 minute of qualy 3 to see which of the 6 cars (yes 6 thats all it was mainly last year). Simples whole weekend done in 20-30 mins depending on anything happening in race. PS i have been a fan since 1980 and watched 6 live races so i do know how bad F1 has got over the recent years
Cornish . This is from Feb. 2010 .
This year Hamilton teams up with world champion Jenson Button in an all-British affair at McLaren but former team owner Jordan has no doubts who will come out on top.
"I can't get my head away from Lewis Hamilton," said Jordan. "He's sharp. He's got talent and the return to the sport of Michael Schumacher will only add to that aggression for him to succeed.
"It's perfect for him. My money wouldn't be anywhere but on Hamilton."
Keith . sounds like you can't afford to pay attention.
BBC IS FREE
Well done BBC, another foot shooting debacle!!!!
I will not be watching f1 from the BBC or sky cannot afford I'm on benefits
Oh yeh? And what has Thundersbirds got to do with F1?
they hire people like jake humphries because he's a television presenter. he knows how to work on telly, can talk to fill time etc. I remember once whatching a fly away race and the real presenter wasn't there and martin brundle stood in to host the show and he kept standing there like a deer in the headlights not knowing how to fill the time.
To do it properly you need someone who can present a TV show, who doesn't need to know anything and then pundits who know what they're talikn about but don't have to carry the show. it means you end up with 2 people when strictly you only need one but rarely can an expert in something as dull as tyre wear manage to keep an audience interested and host a television show.
Theres no point in watching half the races So BBC i wont be watching.I expect youll be using the money youve saved to make another 5000 episodes of bargain hunt or homes under the hammer or cash in the attic
"They bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge, and huge passion for the sport which will help bring the season to life for our audiences on TV, radio and online." - What on earth does Jake Humphrey know about F1, he has done two seasons and thinks he is a font of knowledge on the sport...??
He has got to be the worst commentator who has done the job for as long as I can remember, and why oh why put him along side Eddie Jordon and David Coultard who DO know what they are talking about and are highly respected in the sport.
If the BBC are looking to save money get rid of Humphrey who no doubt earns a small fortune at the viewers expense.
Pity it's only half baked coverage isn't it though so this does not make much difference
shame nobody will be watching
