FOOTBALL 2008 African Cup of Nations Cameroon Pfister - 0

The 70-year-old German had hinted at quitting after Cameroon's 1-0 loss to Egypt in Sunday's African Nations Cup final in Ghana.

However, he confirmed to German football magazine Kicker that he would be staying.

"I am going on holiday for three weeks and then we go on. We have friendly matches in the next month and then the World Cup qualifiers begin at the end of May," Pfister said.

The final defeat to Egypt was the second losing Nations Cup final for Pfister, who was also beaten in 1992 when Ghana lost on penalties to the Ivory Coast in Senegal.

"I have to accept it, I cannot change it. Life goes on," he said. "The whole team was really down after the loss but after two, three hours everyone was laughing again."

Cameroon have not yet announced plans for friendly matches in the coming months but begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against the Cape Verde Islands at home on June 2.

They play three further World Cup qualifiers in June against Mauritius and Tanzania (twice).
