Retired seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has escaped unhurt from a motorcycle crash in Spain.
Schumacher, 40, was testing his Honda 1000 CBR-Fireblade German superbike at the Cartagena circuit, where he has been since Monday.
"Today I had an accident at the biking tests in Cartagena, and to be safe I went to a hospital," Schumacher said on his official website.
"The checks showed nothing and I just wanted to say that I am fine."
Sabine Kehm, spokeswoman for the racer, said: "It is only a slight concussion. Michael will fly home immediately (following his release)."
Schumacher also complained of pain in his right wrist, although no bones were broken.
His team boss Jens Holzhauer told Cologne's Express newspaper: "This was not as bad as it sounds. It was a harmless slip and a quite normal training fall. He will still fly home this evening."
The German won five of his titles with Ferrari and retired in 2006 after winning a record 91 grands prix.

Jees, they really are scraping the barrel aren't they? What's next, "Schumacher stubs toe on step but is ok"? A poor attempt at a story really.

The best ever.....fantastic driver........disliked by jealous Brits....................but a true and worthy champion
yes this is no news. schumacher was given possibly 15 of those 91 victories by his team mates.
he was given 3 of those titles by teams mates.
he blatently stole one off damon hill, knowing he was heading for the wall, he thought he would take out hill too (or convieniently loose control and smash into the only guy who could have beaten him).
No doubt the best driver in the rain i have seen.
No doubt a dirty rotten cheat and will never be hailed as 'the best' driver in my opinion.
No doubt a three time world champion on merit, which makes him one better than Alonso, who has time to make up ground(in no way shape or form am i saying i like alonso, the guy is a male hen).
Kimi Raikonnen summed him up when the guy was on a parade.
Martin Brundle: "kimi, did you go to Micheal's parade"?
Kimi: "no i was taking a s@it".
tenzin b,
Honesty? you're joking right? This is the guy who decided to turn F1 into demolition derby, not once but twice, when he was about to lose the title. Undoubtedly a great driver, if not the best. Certainly not honest tho.
Michael will always be remembered with courage and honesty. No surprise that some old junkies like Al barnie wants to speak against him, don't trouble yourself lad, he's not gonna hear you cry anyway, he will carry on with his good life and you will remain stumbling and mumbling against him for the rest of your rotten life.
give the narraback a skateboard!!..
To comment 44; I wonder how long you have been watching F1. Did Schumacher win all his races fairly? The answer is with Schumacher as well...Ralph and not Michael. Mika Hakkinen also can attest as to whether Michael won fairly. Irvine as a team mate in Ferrari will tell you too. Though he was good, fairness was not familiar word to him...one particular GP in Tokyo tells it all! Endeavour to check records before kissing his stinky arse you bloody winker.
Disgusting to wish that someone had maimed themselves even though you do not like him, or were jealous of him during his heyday. I do not like F1 at all sorry, just a game for rich old men who whip people and have 7ft wives, but I do wish Schu well in whatever he does. He was a legend and should be remembered for that.
To the moron named achunkyjones why is there an @#$% like you that has to bash Hamilton on a story that does not even mention anything about Lewis ? Just curious .
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I wouldn't have liked to hear that he'd injured himself, but this is non-news.
He crashed his bike but he's fine! ... fine, he can afford a new one!
