Retired seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has escaped unhurt from a motorcycle crash in Spain.
Schumacher, 40, was testing his Honda 1000 CBR-Fireblade German superbike at the Cartagena circuit, where he has been since Monday.
"Today I had an accident at the biking tests in Cartagena, and to be safe I went to a hospital," Schumacher said on his official website.
"The checks showed nothing and I just wanted to say that I am fine."
Sabine Kehm, spokeswoman for the racer, said: "It is only a slight concussion. Michael will fly home immediately (following his release)."
Schumacher also complained of pain in his right wrist, although no bones were broken.
His team boss Jens Holzhauer told Cologne's Express newspaper: "This was not as bad as it sounds. It was a harmless slip and a quite normal training fall. He will still fly home this evening."
The German won five of his titles with Ferrari and retired in 2006 after winning a record 91 grands prix.

@36: Yet it's a pity his most frequently remembered attribute was one so familiar with Ferrari even today... "break the rules, knowing the FIA will bail you out". It would seem that is one legacy Ferrari have continued to exploit.
It takes a good man to win, it takes a great man to win fairly... Schumacher will be remembered as being simply good, no more. There's no doubt he had talent, but as so typical with many German sportsmen, not all their talent was related to sportsmanship (Klinnsman anyone?)
Great comment no 38 (hatchetman) - Schumacher's record speaks volumes and establishes him as the greatest driver ever and his dominance of the sport has been matched by only a handful of men and women in sport in history. However, I'm not sure the FIA were against him as you imply; I think he benefited from a few decisions too.
His team boss Jens Holzhauer ....wtf?
why does he have a team boss...for what? and stil has a spokesperson?? what a tool
now go home and play some backgammon michael you tard
How many stories are they going to do about this. What does this have to do with this seasons racing news. NOTHING.............
It's a shame that, like most comments on articles for many sports, the majority of comments are left by semi-literate contributors. I carefully refrain from handing out personal insults to "The Others". sadly, many of them are unable to show such restraint. Michael can only be described as the best ever and I regret the FIA found it essential to change so many rules to stop him and Ferrari.
Hatchetman30
the bikes sort the brave from the rest good that he had a go to see if he has what it take's no giving in a bend for these's boy's i like a tryer
Great comment no 20 (hamilton not fit to wipe his arse) - this may be a bit controversial on this forum but, like most legendary sporting masters, Schumacher's greatest strength was his humility - something which Hamilton clearly lacks...
never mind that pr*ck was the bike ok?
Only a liverpool fan could make a comment like that!! Tomosarse number 15!! Scum of the earth, u give liverpool a bad name!! Shame there are people like u in this world!!
Some people have no respect!!! He was a great driver, a bit of respect could never hurt anyone!
Great news your ok Michael still the BEST!
While I'm glad he's ok (even as a Schumacher hater), the headline is a bit dramatic. I expect a news story with overly dramatic headline next time I get concussion too.
So.......................he cheated again...........death in formula one and now trying to ride his motorbike
should have retired from all motorsports,....maybe he should get a moped or segway.
Kraut who thinks he is God cant ride a motorbike!!
I never like him - BUT, I am more than glad that he is OK.
schumacher vs the stig, only one winner !
Couldnt give a @#$%.
You can REALLY feel the love for Schumacher in the comments left!
