La Liga - Real agree deal for teen star Canales

Real Madrid have agreed to buy teenager Sergio Canales from Racing Santander on a six-year contract starting from July 2010.

The attacking midfielder, who turns 19 next week, has burst onto the scene in recent weeks with a string of impressive performances and some eye-catching goals.

Spanish media reported the deal was worth about 5 million euros and that the youngster was set to play next season on loan with Racing.

Canales has been capped by Spain at U19 level.

  5. Money get your facts straight. Raul did come from our­ youth system. Athletico could not keep is youth camps­ open so all the talent had to scater. Raul was picked­ up by Madrid, trained by Madrid, raised by Madrid, and­ made a super star in Madrid. The fact that he attended­ some other youth club doesnt mean anything.

    Lets­ compare Raul to Wayne Rooney, raised and made a star in­ Manchester. But he was initially training with the­ Everton youth system (I think its Everton)

    Same with­ your beloved Messi. Raised and made a star in­ Barcelona, but was initially trained in some youth­ program in Argentina.

    And as far as it goes for raising players... let­ me mention a few in the more recent years; Raul,­ Casillas, Guti, Higuin and Grenero.

    Higuin might have­ been bought, but he was bought at a young age and our­ youth prgram brought him to where he is. Dont be jelous­ Real made another purchase Barcelona shut its eyes on.

  18. he'll be fine my friend dont worry. he's still­ young and he'll spend one more season at his­ current club on loan from Real but when he gets back to­ Madrid he'll for sure get to play and show that­ he's able to impress and earn his way to the 1st­ team. @ least i hope it will be like that coz i've­ heard and read a lot of times that this guy is a future­ star.
