Tottenham Hotspur are considering Jurgen Klinsmann to replace Harry Redknapp if he opts to take the England job, according to Sunday's papers.

The legendary striker, 47, played for the club with distinction in two spells in the Nineties.

He managed the Germany national team at the 2006 World Cup held in that country but later enjoyed a less successful stint in charge of Bayern Munich.

He is currently in charge of the United States national team.

The Sunday Mirror says he is interested in the job, but also cites former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink as a target for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

The Mail on Sunday reports that Redknapp will be approached by the FA this week, but that he will insist on seeing out the season with his club.

The Daily Star on Sunday says that the governing body will have to pay out £15 million to secure Redknapp's services.

The Mail reiterates that Robin van Persie is a target for Real Madrid despite Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's recent condemnation of the Spanish media for unsettling his captain.

"Frankly, Marca is as creative as some English newspapers," he said. "That means you cannot believe every word that is said in Marca.

"They don't care, Marca, at all. I think they are even far more from real evidence than any English newspapers. They create just stories."

  1. Hire David Beckham...He's not very busy right now...Leave Harry at WHL

  2. Haha, Klinsmann is a rubbish manager, never, ever done anything good. The only good he can claim is when is assistant was the one in charge of the team and Klinsmann took the plaudits!

  3. Harry stay at Spurs. You like to be involved 24/7 365 in football and you won't be able to do that with England. It is the ultimate to manage your country but only if you're Brazilian, Spanish, German or Italian. Managing England won't win any trophies but at Spurs you can bring back the Glory,Glory days so stay, Spurs need you more than England. There are better players at Spurs, Modric, Parker, Walker, Bale, Kaboul, King, Ekotto etc but the only players who would make the England team would be Walker and Parker. (King would of course be a regular if not for his recurring knee injury) So if you want to be around talented players 24/7 365 STAY AT SPURS.

  4. Why doesn't Levy just say Redknapp is under contract and we will not talk about England until the end of the season?

I don't think this is out of order as he has a job to do and Levy must protect Spurs and all our interests.

  5. If Harry Redknapp gets the job, he won't move away before the end of the season. That 's quite obvious.

Ian Holloway would be a great replacement for Harry. The quips and one-liners would guarantee business as usual.

  10. To be fair GEORGE...Capello has won at least 5 times as many trophies that Redknapp has won, that's probably why he was on such a ridiculously high wage.

  13. I certainly don't want Harry to leave WHL but if he does get offered the England job, the FA should pay him the same as Cappello and not a penny less. There's talk that the FA wouldn't pay the new manager as much as Cappello. Why not? Harry's worth as much as Cappello and then some.

  19. David Moyes is a top manager who keeps Everton punching well above their weight year after year, with no cash to spend. I am sure he could do a top job at Spurs. I think Harry will take the England job, swept along on the wave of popular support. When England's miss-firing stars fail to qualify for the next world cup, the press will turn on him and it will be time to retire.
