Larsson targets cup success

Sun, 12 Feb 13:15:52 2012

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has set his sights on ending Arsenal's FA Cup dreams after suffering Barclays Premier League disappointment at their hands.

The former Gunners midfielder and his team-mates were powerless to resist as their midweek cup exploits at Middlesbrough took their toll in the face of a Thierry Henry-inspired fightback on Saturday.

However, Larsson is hoping the Black Cats can make the most of Arsenal's Champions League trip to AC Milan in midweek as they attempt to gain revenge.

He said: "We said before the game, we know it's Arsenal, but we are trying to reach that level where we shouldn't worry about who it is coming here.

"It was a game we shouldn't have lost, but we did, so we need to pick ourselves up and make sure we beat them next week in the FA Cup. Hopefully they will be a bit more tired next week than we are.

"We have got a week to prepare now, but at the moment, it is just very disappointing. We haven't tasted defeat that many times since the new manager came in, and that makes it even harder to take when it comes around."

  1. Good stuff Maggie, made me chuckle.
NORM. Good point re. Henry cheating. Hang on, wasn't Larsson at Arsenal at one point getting splinters in his backside? That explains where he learned all his tricks. Cheers pal!

  8. Lord of Time: you may find it funny that "sunderand (sic) fans talk about their injuries" but I find it hilarious that you talk about football at all. Are you seriously suggesting that McClean should have stopped playing the moment the Arsenal defender collapsed like a sack of shyte? Are you suggesting that the referee should've disallowed the goal because an Arsenal player fell over? If you are sir, you are a clown of the first order.
Lord of Time? Lord of Clowns.

"i hope you cry when arsenal destroy you" Lord of Clowns, I haven't laughed this much since Manchester United put 8 past you.

  10. i do find it funny that some sunderand fans talk about their injuries, who do they think they are talking to, arsenal have had the most injries this season yet we are still doing well, sunderland are not a great team, granted they were the inform team going into the match but tbh that dont mean anything, sunderland showed in the game that if they get a player injred on the pitch you are now allowed to carry on playing, as they seem to do it for themselves, the sunderland fans go on, on how they should have won yet not one cares that the only goal they scored was down to a defender who got injured and they carried on playing to score from the injury, so sunderland fans the better team won and your team showed no sportsmanship, come the fa cup game i hope you cry when arsenal destroy you, no team that did what your team did deserves anything.

Forget it mate youve no chance with these two.
According to them they dont get beat, they just throw away wins theres a difference you see?
They only lose coz they didnt take their chances or coz the ref was biased or because they had injuries etc etc......yaaaawwwn
They are incapable of admitting they were beaten by a better team.
If Sunderloaned were half as good as these two claim then they might fill their small stadium once in a while but as it is the public keep away and SAFC have to fill the stands with schoolkids that get in for nowt.

  17. It's a game we shouldn't have lost? If it wasn't for the injury to the defender Sunderland would not have scored, and if the home team plays most of the game defending with 11 players what do you expect. Sunderland got what they deserved, nothing.

From Fed up with Britain, on Sun 12 Feb 22:21
  18. Larson get ready for another defeat if we can do it last week we can do it again next week irrespective of our crucial and fierce champions league on Wednesday. Come on gunners lets do it again on Wednesday and ever.
