Wed 12 Mar, 05:15 PM

Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander was a happy man after picking up his first victory as Silkmen boss in Tuesday's 1-0 win at Dagenham.Francis Green had only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds before firing into the roof of the net to move the Silkmen five points clear of League Two relegation and see off the battling Daggers.

Macclesfield were also indebted to a fine display from goalkeeper Jonny Brain, who saved a Dave Rainford penalty prior to Green's winner.

"It was a good performance from the side - the keeper made some good saves and we managed to get a block on everything," Alexander said.

"Dagenham are a good side and this is a hard place to come, but I thought we deserved to get something from last weekend's game, so it was nice to reap our rewards this time."
