Lambert 'over the moon' with win

Wed 12 Mar, 06:01 PM

Manager Paul Lambert admits this season is fast becoming his best at Adams Park after 10-man Wycombe held on for a 2-1 home win over Wrexham. The former Livingston boss - who has been strongly linked with Motherwell in recent weeks - joined Wycombe in 2006, leading them to the Carling Cup semi-finals in his first season in charge.

But after watching strike-duo Leon Knight and Scott McGleish repeat their weekend antics against Darlington to leave Wrexham on the brink of Football League oblivion, the Scot admitted he could not be happier despite Tommy Doherty's red card.

He said: "I'm over the moon with the last few days and the lads have been absolutely brilliant. Two wins from two hard games in quick succession is really excellent.

"We've got a little rest now and then we have to go out on Saturday against Hereford in the same way.

"The lads have put themselves in a position to really do something this year and it's a crucial time for us now. Leon (Knight) is on the top of his game and so is Scott (McGleish). It was another superb strike from Leon and he has been terrific for us recently."
