Steven McGarry is determined to help push Motherwell to a UEFA Cup spot after recovering from illness and pledging his future to the club. The midfielder has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Fir Park until the summer of 2010.
The 28-year-old has looked fitter and more confident this season as he and his team-mates have revelled in the leadership of Mark McGhee.
And the former St Mirren and Ross County player now wants to secure a European spot to reward their hard work.
Third-placed Well face European rivals Hibernian at Easter Road aiming to put eight points between them and the Edinburgh side.
Such a gap would put Motherwell in pole position for a European place. Third place would guarantee a UEFA Cup spot and, if there is an Old Firm Scottish Cup final, fourth could also see Well fans dusting off their passports.
McGarry has only played four matches this year after being affected by illness but he is now raring to go for the season finale.
"I've been reasonably happy with my form this year. Certainly up until Christmas I felt both I and the team were playing some really exciting stuff," he told the club's website.
"I've missed a fair chunk of the last month or so through illness that really knocked me for six.
"I've fully recovered now though and with this really important run of games coming up, I want to play a part in it and ensure we get the third place I think we deserve.
"It's exciting times to be at Motherwell and I am delighted to be staying here.
"We've had a terrific campaign this year and I want to play a part in future seasons.
"The manager asked me to sign the extension and, given how I feel about the club and the way I've been playing, I had absolutely no hesitations.
"We had a few bits and pieces to sort out but I am delighted to be a Motherwell player now and for the next few years."
