Sean Rigg scored his first goal of the season as Bristol Rovers had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Northampton in League One on Wednesday.The young striker broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time at the Memorial Stadium with a neat shot on the turn. It was Rigg's first goal since the League Two play-off semi-final win at Lincoln in May but just 4,657 fans were there to see it.
Northampton deservedly equalised 10 minutes after the break through a close-range shot from Poul Hubertz.
Rovers made five changes to the side beaten 5-1 by West Brom in the FA Cup sixth round on Sunday, but Paul Trollope's side still lacked any cutting edge going forward.
Northampton hit the crossbar through a fierce shot from Ian Henderson. That came seconds after Rovers keeper Steve Phillips had saved well from Ryan Gilligan.
Lewis Haldane forced Mark Bunn into a diving save but it was a rare moment of anxiety for the Cobblers keeper.
