Huddersfield boss Andy Ritchie conceded his side were second best following their defeat at Hartlepool and blames a poor second-half display.Sam Collins and Michael Mackay set Pools on their way to a 2-1 home win in League One on Tuesday night, while Nathan Clarke pulled one back for the Terriers.
Ritchie said: "It was a case of chalk and cheese for us. We were the better team in the first half and had some good chances, but in the second we were nowhere near as good.
"We didn't react quickly enough in either penalty area, both in attack and defence, and we were second best as Hartlepool dominated us.
"They were a lot brighter than we were and for long spells we had to work really hard to keep them out.
"We have to get back to basics and get them right if we want to put this result and performance behind us."
