Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott felt his side's command of the elements was an important factor behind their first victory in 11 attempts. The Valiants swept aside local rivals Crewe 2-0 in Tuesday night's League One clash after second-half goals from Paul Harsley and Luke Rodgers increased relegation fears at Gresty Road.
"I'm delighted for the players and supporters because there has been some grey skies so far," said Sinnott.
"I could tell the fans were enjoying themselves. The major part was that we conquered the wind better than Crewe.
"It was a derby so I asked for action and we took the game to them and deserved our victory.
"We don't have a crystal ball. What happens between now and the end of the season will be. But we have to maintain good habits whatever next season brings."
