Rennes defender Rod Fanni has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his right ankle in training.

The 26-year-old has started every Ligue 1 game so far this season before suffering the injury on Tuesday.

Rennes lie 10th in Ligue 1 after a 2-0 win against PSG at the weekend, although are only eight points behind fourth-placed Marseille and are making a late charge for European qualification.

Fanni joined Rennes from Nice in the summer and has also played for Lens and hometown club Martigues.
