The Miami Dolphins have signed unrestricted free agent Keith Davis on a two-year contract, while the New York Jets have signed free running back Jesse Chatman from the Florida franchise.
Davis, 29, a safety and special teams player, had spent the previous five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
Davis has played in 68 NFL games, including 22 starts, and registered 101 tackles. He was Dallas' special teams captain last year.
He has totalled 77 special teams tackles, including a high of 21 in 2004 and 18 last year.
Davis joined the Cowboys after four years at Sam Houston State where as a junior he was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Chatman, a short, stocky veteran of five NFL seasons, joins the Jets after recording career highs in rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards with Miami in 2007.
He ended the season with 515 yards rushing and a touchdown on 128 carries, and 161 receiving yards on 27 receptions.
Chatman had his best game against the Buffalo Bills in November when he ran for 124 yards on 27 carries.
Chatman, who has also played for San Diego and New Orleans, has also contributed on special teams, where he has made 34 tackles and run back eight kickoff returns for 151 yards.
