Portsmouth and England goalkeeper David James has committed his future to the South Coast club by signing a two year contract extension until 2010.
"I'm enjoying being at Pompey, it's a fantastic environment," James declared.
"I never imagined the club being in this position when I joined."
The 37-year-old, whose previous deal was set to expire in the summer, is now expected to end his career at Pompey, who he joined in 2006 after leaving Manchester City.
The former Watford, Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Ham keeper has surprised many by finding his best form in the twilight of his career, earning a recall for England after Paul Robinson's slump and allegedly drawing appreciative glances from Tottenham.
Portsmouth currently lie ninth in the Premier League and have a good chance of qualifying for Europe after making the semi finals of the FA Cup following a 1-0 win at Manchester United.
