Lowly Imps fight back to sink Blues

Sat 12 Apr, 08:45 PM

Lincoln's 10 men held strong during a second-half barrage to pinch the points with a 2-1 win against struggling Chester at Deva Stadium.Jamie Forrester scored two first-half goals in as many minutes as the Imps came from behind and were then forced to hold on after Danny N'Guessan was dismissed 21 minutes from time.

Chester had only themselves to blame after missing a host of chances, starting with Kevin Ellison's poor spot-kick in the fifth minute which was saved by Alan Marriott after the keeper had felled John Murphy.

Paul McManus had fired Chester ahead after 20 minutes, rifling home from Paul Rutherford's low cross. But the lead lasted seconds as the game was turned on its head with two goals in quick succession.

First, Forrester shrugged off Paul Linwood and bundled the ball home from close range after 21 minutes and then a long ball up front was nodded into the path of Forrester by Ben Wright, who fired home.

Chester pushed for a leveller and came close after 78 minutes when sub Glenn Rule struck the bar with a volley but the visitors held firm.
