We need creative spark - Curbs

Sat 12 Apr, 10:15 AM

Alan Curbishley has called on West Ham to show a more creative streak if they want to collect all three points against Bolton on Saturday. The Hammers lacked guile in their midweek defeat against Portsmouth and West Ham boss Curbishley knows they will need to create more against a robust Trotters side who play with the same 4-5-1 formation.

"The players are putting in the effort but we need a bit more imagination," said Curbishley.

"We have players to do that but a little of the pace and imagination is not with us at the moment and it has not been for some time.

"I'm expecting a very high tempo, very passionate game.

"You have to be aware they take every opportunity to get the ball in the box and challenge for it and make it very difficult for you and we have to be strong enough to deal with that.

"I think with their recent results that they'll see our game as a stepping stone to try and get out of it.

"I still don't think they're that far from safety. That's their objective and it can turn in a weekend and that's what they've got to be hoping for."
