O'Hanlon rescues a point for Dons

Sat 12 Apr, 07:00 PM

Sean O'Hanlon's stoppage-time equaliser was not enough to promote MK Dons as other results went against them while they drew 2-2 with Wycombe.Scott McGleish twice fired Wycombe into the lead, with Aaron Wilbraham equalising for Dons and O'Hanlon heading home four minutes into stoppage time to share the spoils. But Stockport's win at Peterborough means they will have to wait another day for promotion, although they are now three points clear at the top of League Two.

The Chairboys had the better of the first half and Stefan Oakes went close with two long-range efforts before they took the lead when Leon Johnson headed Russell Martin's back-post corner into the middle for McGleish, who was in the right place at the right time to head home.

Dons went all out for a goal in the second half but still came up against a solid Wycombe defence.

And then when it started to seem like it would never come, the Dons struck with a classy move after 72 minutes as they kept the ball well before Keith Andrews slotted in Dean Lewington down the left who squared for Wilbraham to tap in.

However, while celebratory music was still playing out and the Dons' fans celebrated, McGleish stunned everyone with an amazing 30-yard volley that caught Willy Gueret off his line.

But again when all hope seemed to be lost, O'Hanlon rose magnificently to head in Lewington's corner and earn the Dons a point.
