Michael Turner struck a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a crucial 1-1 draw for promotion-chasing Hull against QPR at the KC Stadium.Turner turned home substitute Caleb Folan's cross to cancel out Dexter Blackstock's opener after 13 minutes and extend the Tigers' unbeaten run to five matches.
The visitors contained the lethargic hosts with an professional defensive display for long spells, but the hosts' pressure eventually paid dividends.
QPR forced the first opening of the contest when Gareth Ainsworth met Damien Delaney's deep cross from the left with a downward header, but Bo Myhill was able to gather.
Seconds later, Patrick Agyemang latched onto a lofted throughball from Ainsworth, and forced Myhill into a smart save with a powerful right-footed shot.
Hull looked visibly rusty after two weeks without a match, and Agyemang was causing plenty of problems in attack.
The visitors took the lead in controversial circumstances when Delaney survived a handball appeal on the edge of his own area and broke away down the left.
He found Hogan Ephraim, who delivered a low cross into the six-yard box. Brown diverted the ball towards his own goal, but although Myhill got a hand to it, Blackstock scrambled it home.
Dean Marney fired wide from distance with a rare attack for the hosts, but the visitors looked far more comfortable in possession, and were creating the bulk of the opportunities.
Myhill had to be alert to palm away a looping header from Fitz Hall following a corner from Martin Rowlands, and the Hull goalkeeper then produced a fine save to keep out a dangerous cross-shot from Ephraim.
Hull were creating little at the other end, although Andy Dawson forced Lee Camp to tip a curling left-footed free-kick from 20 yards over the crossbar.
The hosts did come close when Dean Windass helped the ball on to Fraizer Campbell, who turned sharply but saw his right-footed shot blocked.
Hull continued to find it difficult to carve out openings in the second half, although Marney should have done better with a left-footed half-volley 18 yards from goal.
Hull manager Phil Brown made a tactical change on the hour mark by replacing Henrik Pedersen with Folan to offer a three-pronged attack.
Folan headed just wide soon after his introduction, although at the other end, Myhill was fortunate to see Ephraim's deflected shot fly straight at him.
Campbell drilled a shot on the turn into the side-netting as the home side pushed for an equaliser.
The on-loan Manchester United striker then missed a glorious opportunity when he headed straight at Camp from eight yards after a flick on from Folan.
However, in the first minute of stoppage-time, Folan surged down the right and delivered a low centre, and Turner fired the ball home at the far post to score for the fourth home game in a row.
Hull could have won the contest seconds later, but Campbell failed to connect effectively with a volley after Folan's flick on.
