Sinnott upbeat despite Vale's drop

Sat 12 Apr, 08:45 PM

Lee Sinnott insisted Port Vale "will bounce back" after they were relegated to Football League's lowest tier after a 0-0 draw to Huddersfield.Sinnott was gutted as the club's fate was confirmed and their three-match winning run ended by stylish Huddersfield.

He said: "The 'R' word has been hanging over our heads for two or three weeks now. We have been waiting in the gallows for someone to pull the lever and that has finally happened.

"But I'm not about to go and sit in a corner and cry. There is too much hard work to do and the aim now is to finish the season as strongly as possible and then take that on next season."

Sinnott added: "I'm proud of the players and they have again shown a lot of spirit. We have taken 10 points from the last 12 and there are a lot of positive signs at the football club.

"What we must do now is to build on that. The players are naturally down and I'm particularly disappointed for the fans. But everyone can take some crumbs of comfort from our recent form."
