Alex set for major summer changes

Mon 12 May, 12:30 PM

Steve Holland is planning a major squad overhaul at Crewe during the summer in an attempt to avoid a repeat of this season's disappointment.Alexandra survived relegation to League Two on the last day of the season despite a 4-1 defeat to Oldham, and Holland is desperate to ensure he does not have to endure another tortuous campaign.

Gretna goalkeeper Greg Fleming has already been linked with a move to Gresty Road and could be the first of several new signings during a busy summer for the club.

Holland told the club's official website: "We have known for a while what is required and we are very determined to get some quality players in. We will do everything we can do to try and do that this summer but most transfers are never straight forward.

"We didn't win as many games as we would have liked, but we drew quite a large number and if we could turn some of those into wins then we would move up the table.

"It is our aim to do better this year. It does take a bit of time to mould a team but we want to make the necessary adjustments and enjoy a better season."
