Southend striker Lee Barnard has emerged as an early injury doubt ahead of Friday's play-off semi-final second leg at Doncaster Rovers.Barnard, who has scored nine goals since joining the Shrimpers in January, sustained an ankle problem in the goalless first-leg and is now facing a race against time to prove his fitness.

"It's a huge game so of course I want to be involved," said Barnard.

"It's hard to say if I will be out, but I'll be keeping everything crossed because I would be gutted to miss out.

"My ankle is still quite swollen, but touch wood it will soon go down and I will be able to return to training before the end of the week."
