Jeff Bonser labelled the Walsall fans calling for his resignation as "divorced from financial reality" and claimed the season was a success.Supporters made their feelings known during the final-day clash with Hartlepool, but Bonser insists the Saddlers have made progress this season.
"Those same people the season before would have given me the freedom of the town," Bonser told The Express & Star. "They are divorced from financial reality.
"All I think about those sort of people is 'thank you very much for attending the match and please keep coming again next year'.
"Unlike a lot of people, I think this last season has been successful, albeit we petered out at the end, but that happens sometimes."
Walsall finished 12th in League One but only managed one point from their final four league games.
