Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton has hit back at critics suggesting the club's target of 6,000 season ticket sales next season is 'unrealistic'.Town fans were able to renew their tickets on Monday morning after County slashed the prices in an attempt to entice more people through the turnstiles.
And Fitton believes that an increase in attendance next season will help the team on the pitch as they look to gain promotion to the Championship.
He told the Swindon Advertiser: "I really don't think 6,000 is a unrealistic number. People have to understand there is a direct relationship between crowds and success.
"Of course there are exceptions, like Newcastle United, but there is definitely a marriage of interests here. The more people who come, the more money we can spend on building the right team.
"It would be great to go the games and hear people say how good it is sitting in a crowd of eight to 10,000 rather than 6,000."
