Shrewsbury are set to claim a £500,000 windfall after former star Joe Hart was named in the England squad to face USA and Trinidad & Tobago. The Shrewsbury-born stopper moved from the New Meadow to Premier League outfit Manchester City two years ago for an initial fee of £600,000 which also included an add-on for winning a full England cap.
And after an impressive campaign for Sven-Goran Eriksson's side this season, Hart - who had previously been capped at Under-21 level - was handed his first call-up into coach Fabio Capello's 31-man squad for the Wembley friendlies.
Shrews boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's fantastic news for Joe and for the club.
"Any extra money coming in that can make this club better is good to have."
