Eriksson Set For Far East Trip

Mon 12 May, 11:09 AM

Sven-Goran Eriksson looks set to lead Manchester City on their post-season tour to the Far East later this week.

The Swede's future has been the subject of constant speculation in recent weeks despite a promising first season in charge of Thaksin Shinawatra's club.

Eriksson said after his side were thrashed 8-1 by Middlesbrough in their final game of the season that he wanted the matter resolved quickly but he remains at the helm for now.

Eriksson's assistant Tord Grip told BBC Sport: "Sven has not heard any more. He will go to Thailand on Tuesday and meet Dr Thaksin there."

Former Thai prime minister Thaksin is thought to have indicated to Eriksson that he will change managers before next season.

The likelihood of former England boss Eriksson leaving has angered fans, with protests being staged in the past fortnight.

It now seems Eriksson will at least remain in charge until after the summer trip, which includes games in Thailand and Hong Kong.
