Johnson Blow For Wolves

Mon 12 May, 09:09 PM

Great Britain international Paul Johnson has become the fourth Warrington player to be ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old former Wigan and Bradford centre and second rower's worst fears were realised when he was told he will need a full knee re-construction after suffering cruciate ligament damage in Saturday's 40-23 Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round defeat at St Helens.

Johnson missed the last two months of last season with a neck injury and only recently returned from a month's lay-off with a hamstring pull.

The news comes just 24 hours after another Test player, full-back Stuart Reardon, was ruled out for the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon - the same injury that brought a halt to stand-off Chris Bridge's campaign back in February.

Steve Pickersgill also has cruciate knee ligament injury and is already out for the rest of the campaign.
