Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate felt his side did not have the rub of the green as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.
Habib Beye`s own goal put Boro ahead at St James` Park, but Steven Taylor, Obafemi Martins and Peter Lovenkrands turned it around to move the Magpies out of the bottom three, but leave the visitors in deep trouble.
Southgate said: "For them to lose in manner we did having gone ahead is very difficult for all of us to take. It's a tough evening for everyone associated with our football club.
"The players gave everything, but unfortunately, key events on the night went against us.
"The second goal, looking at the television pictures, I thought at the time it was a foul on [Robert] Huth by Viduka, but it was also offside.
"It then dropped straight to their guy - they are key things and unfortunately, they didn't go for us."

@#$% = cox
Hutch. You're wrong in this respect. Crows don't crow, they sort of make a cawing sound. It's @#$% that crow. Are you saying that NUFC are a bunch of @#$%?
In case it has escaped your attention, all three NE teams have been sh@te all season and all can still be relegated. Plenty to bleat about, but I don't see anything to crow about from anybody.
Patrick Jewell - I can assure you that farmyard animals don't bleat when they are losing and crow when they are winning. Lambs and sheep bleat all the time and crows crow all the time regardless of what the score is.
Maybe Southgate just doesn't want to critisise his squad but I would be worried if I was a boro fan reading his comments.
Cameron, I don't think you're in a position to criticise another clubs chairman.
Here we go, typical Mags. Bleating when they're losing... crowing when they're winning.
Just a bunch of farmyard animals.
The Toon scored all 4 goals.
Didn't have the rub of the green!!!
What!!!!!!!
Did you miss 'the boro' goal!!!!!!
Rubbish manager, who along with an appallingly naive Chairman must shoulder the blame for the club's relegation.
