Huddersfield midfielder Jon Worthington is among five players whose contracts will not be renewed at the Galpharm Stadium this summer.

Worthington, 26, a product of Town's academy, was a popular captain under former manager Andy Ritchie, but has been hindered by injury in the last two seasons and was loaned out to Yeovil shortly after the arrival of current boss Lee Clark.

Clark told the club's official website: "All of the lads in the squad have been brilliant since I arrived at the club, but sometimes decisions have to be made in football.

"It's not the nicest part of the job, but as I have said before the only constant in football is change and these lads have to go and look for pastures new now.

"They certainly leave with our best wishes and a big thank you for their contribution to the club since we've been here."

Town defender Andy Holdsworth is in talks with Clark about a new deal, but Dominik Werling, Dan Codman, Malvin Kamara and Daniel Broadbent are the other players to be released.
