Serie A - Brazil defender Juan is set to enter negotiations with Roma regarding a move from Bayer Leverkusen, according to his agent.
The proposed move - for a fee of around 9 million euros - is one of the worst-kept secrets in European football, with Juan having decided on the move earlier in the season.
"This player has a minimum-fee release clause in his contract," Alexander Lucci declared to Radio Spazio Aperto in Italy. "Next week there will be a meeting between me, [Roma sporting director Daniel] Prade and [Leverkusen sporting director] Rudi Voeller.
"I reckon we will find an agreement between the three of us."
Such a move for the 28-year-old would be facilitated by the good relationship between Roma and their former star striker Voeller, despite the latter only lasting a month as manager of the Serie A club a few years back.
Lucci went on to claim that Juan, who has spent five seasons at Leverkusen since joining from Flamengo, had received offers from other European clubs, including the UEFA Cup champions.
"The player also could have gone to Sevilla," Lucci continued. "But he always wanted to play in Italy over Spain and Rome in particular.
"He would take less money to play in the city, having taken larger ones into consideration."
