Gills pair making good progress

Thu 12 Jun, 06:00 PM

Gillingham physio Paul Smith is confident Simon Royce and Adam Miller will both be fully fit for the start of pre-season training.Goalkeeper Royce and midfielder Miller have both been taking part in the club's twice-weekly sessions over recent weeks.

Royce, the club's Player of the Year, missed the last nine matches of last season with an ankle problem, while Miller had a hernia operation at the end of the campaign but Smith is confident both will be ready for pre-season.

He told the club's official website: "I hit a few balls at Simon and the idea is to test his mobility.

"We had him stretching high and low, moving from side to side, stopping a few volleys and half-volleys just to make sure he's progressing well. I'm happy he'll be alright for pre-season.

"Miller's back running and training already. His operation was a complete success and now it's all about being sensible and not letting him overdo it but he's progressing well."
