Southend United midfielder Alan McCormack has committed his future to the club and signed a new three-year contract with the Shrimpers. The 24-year-old Irish midfielder rejected Southend's first offer of a new deal but has now put pen to paper to commit to the club until 2011.
McCormack, who made 51 appearances last season and scored nine goals, told the club's official website: "I'm pleased that everything has been sorted out.
"I know it was put out that I rejected the club's first offer of a contract but I was never looking to get away.
"We enjoyed a great end to last season and if we can carry on that way then I really do think promotion is a possibility next year."
