Bundesliga - Bayern want 'crazy' money for Ribery

Eurosport - Fri, 12 Jun 21:49:00 2009

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness will only consider selling Franck Ribery if his club receive a 'crazy' bid for the France midfielder.

FOOTBALL Franck Ribery Bayern Munich 2009 - 0

Hoeness this week informed Real Madrid the Bavarians were not willing to sell the 26-year-old, but speculation is rife he may soon be hearing from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson - if Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Madrid goes through.

"We would only talk on very strict conditions," Hoeness told Munich's Tz newspaper. "And that would be if they were prepared to do crazy things."

Hoeness recently claimed that not even one of Ribery's legs could be bought for 50 million euros, but the consensus in Germany is that a bid in the region of 75 million euros (£64 million) could prove to be tempting enough.

Having already spent close to that amount on new players this summer, the Bundesliga outfit may welcome the opportunity to recoup their expenditure in one deal - particularly since Ribery has made it clear he fancies a move abroad.

  1. With the transfer prices now gone through the roof you could get Darren Bent or maybe Bellany now for 35 million lmao

  2. Latest news around Europe Is that Villa is certain to join madrid in the next couple of days, Barca look like they will get Ribbery Who are you going to buy is the 80 million in one sum or more than likely instalments like the Beck's Rooney deals well just about most big money deals are done that way, with the 50% tax in the uk most players would favour Spain with the big tax breaks and the strong Euro, United wont land any world stars whats for sure.

  3. Ribery does not have the bottle to ply his trade in the English Premiership because it will be far too competitive for him. Even if United agreed to pay £50m, he would still not come. I would like to be wrong about this but for the present, I will stick to my views.

  4. Comment 76, you have got the situation completely in reverse. For the first fifteen minutes of the game against Barca, Ronaldo was in blistering form but unfortunately, he did not get any support or sevice from his team mates. Giggs was a complete joke throughout the match and contributed absolutely nothing. I do not understand SAF's love affair with this player who for seasons now has hardly broken sweat. His distribution in most of the games he has played, verges on the inept. I am not surprised that Tevez, when sitting on the bench watching that rubbish feels frustrated and expresses a desire to move on. In the game against Barca, Rooney also performed well below par and his passing left alot to be desired. And as for Carrick who gave possession to Barca and which led to their first goal, I do not believe that he is anything like a player who should be wearing a United shirt. He is far too slow of both body and mind and the fleet footed Barca midfielders showed him up for what he is ie. "absolutely useless". Does it surprise anyone that Ronaldo would become disillusioned when faced with such diabolical assistance?

  5. lets not forget that doctors do look after these footballers, perhaps they should get the increase before they decide 2 change their jobs. some hospitals requires more doctor as people ended up dead due 2 waiting on a doctor

  6. I am pretty sure that Real will throw around 50 million euro for Ribery just to beat every bid! Bayern are gonna want more than that but they ain't gonna get any higher bid! and they surely ain't gonna see any good from an unmotivated Ribery if they step in his way to Madrid!
The germans will be forced to sell him and settle for 50. after all that's a good price and they should not be greedy

  7. Too bad Ribery is too expensive for MU. But Fergusson can buy Benzema and Valencia. they cheaper and very good players!

  8. No way is franck close to 60 mil plus. 30-40 million or you're throwing away money.

  9. You are all over analysing this. I think 40 million?!! You havent got a clue. just wait and see what happens. wait to see what happens dont tell us what you would do, cos we dont care!

  11. i believe 40m pounds would be a fair price for ribery. this would allow man united to get a fantastic player for a somewhat discount compared to what they received for ronaldo, and it would allow bayern to spend that money on 2 very good players to build their squad for next season. lets face it, for the money man united is getting for ronaldo, they can get ribery, benzema, and valencia and those 3 combined are obviously better than ronaldo so why not? this would also allow both bayern and lyon to buy 2 great players to replace ribery and benzema. in a way, everybody wins...

  12. The real point here is that Barcelona and Chelski are United's real threats. Liverpool nuthin', Madrid nuthin', Arsenal nuthin'. United were urinated on by Barca if we are to be honest. The biggest problem being that having gone behind, there was nothing left. United had become 'Ronaldo-heavy'. He showed no willingness to adapt to the team and other players were compromising their ability to accommodate him - most notably Rooney and Berbatov. United need more attacking players. Look at this team:

    1. Van Der Sar,
    2. Evra,
    3. Brown,
    4. Vidic,
    5, Ferdinand,
    6, Hargreaves,
    7. Ribery,
    8, Anderson,
    9. Rooney,
    10. Benzema,
    11. Valencia.

Compare this to the team that lost to Barcelona.

    1. Van der Sar,
    2. Evra,
    3. O'Shea,
    4. Vidic,
    5. Ferdinand,
    6. Carrick,
    7. Ronaldo,
    8. Anderson,
    9. Rooney,
    10. Park,
    11. Giggs

Which team is better? Of course the first team would beat Barcelona whereas it is not surprising that the 2nd team didn't.

  13. crazy money? for Ribery? Well for someone whos no better than ljungberg at arsenal was, £20 mill would be crazy!

  14. Old scarface ain't worth £64 mil or anywhere near it. I think bayern are just trying to push up the price because they know Real Madrid want him and they(Real Madrid)seem to have no concerns with paying over the top prices for players they want.
