Everton have released Portuguese left-back Nuno Valente and Dutch winger Andy van der Meyde.
Portugal international Valente, who won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, moved to Goodison Park in 2005.
The 34-year-old found himself behind Leighton Baines in the pecking order last term, while Joleon Lescott has also been preferred on the left of the defence.
Van der Meyde joined from Inter four years ago, but struggled badly with injuries and disciplinary and personal problems.
Everton have also released youngsters John Irving, John Paul Kissock, Scott Spencer, Eunan O'Kane and Cory Sinnott, while Segundo Castillo has returned to Red Star Belgrade after his loan spell came to an end.

Get rid of cahill the pis+#head.
SORRY for the young players but the others were just bench warmers so it was best to let them go.
David Moyes was right to release players he felt were up to the standard, but, their luck didn't lie in Everton, so yeh, strengthen the squad and see where Everton go from here...
funny to see how many non-liverpudlians who don't support Everton wanting to comment on this board.
all seem rather sad individuals.
16th or 17th.... 18th up till the last game of the season... then pat vandenhowe will score a screamer which will save there season... just... YNWA
CAN'Y BELEIVE JOHN PAUL KISSOCK HAS GONE, HE IS A VERY GIFFTED PLAYER AND NEVER BEEN GIVIN A RUN OUT, HE HAS SO MUCH SKILL ON THE BALL, AND SINNOTT ASWELL THEY WERE PRAISING THIS LAD ON THE WEBSITE NOT LONG AGO, R SQUAD IS THIN ENOUGH WITHOUT GETTING RID OF THE KIDS FOR NOTHING.
Reduced squad for Everton but hopefully we shall find some money to strengthen it with more puposeful players. Strong, mobile and skillful player in midfield and a very good right full back. Obviously you need a strong back-up to allow rotation in the side for the top four clubs have these great reserves.
14th!!!!!
poor lads, if they could have concentrated more on football, instead of checking the security of their homes, they would still be at the club!!!
those crazy lads predict toffees will finish at top 4... haha.. lol

Good riddance to Van Der Meyde but good luck to the other lads, especially John Paul Kissock who seemed a nice lad, pity it didn't work out for him at Everton.
