Serie A - Liverpool 'bid for Lavezzi'

Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent insists Serie A club Napoli have received an offer from Liverpool for the Argentina striker.

Napoli general director Pierpaolo Marino said on Thursday his club had not received any bids for Lavezzi while Reds boss Rafael Benitez has also denied any interest in the South American star.

However, Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni said: "Pierpaolo Marino continues to lie. I reiterate that a FIFA agent presented Napoli with an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi."

He added: "This was a formal procedure as the player cannot be contacted directly (by the interested club) because he is under contract with Napoli."

Lavezzi has been linked with a move away from Napoli this month following a dispute with his club over a contract extension.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Naples-based outfit in the summer of 2007, scored seven league goals this season.

Lavezzi is under contract with Napoli until June 2012.

  17. i think lavezzi would be a great signing, david villa­ would be too unrealistic and seriously who do we drop­ to play him, our system was inspirational last lear,­ fair enough we may need to improve a few area's but­ our first choice attack system is not one of them so do­ we sign villa and put him on the bench or drop kuyt and­ move gerrard from his best position. lavezzi is a very­ skilful player and well he was playing with a @#$% team­ which would explain his low goal tally. a big plus for­ lavezzi is his versatillity, he can play all across the­ middle of the park and as an out and out striker so­ that covers 2 positions we are weak in, we can put him­ left mid and if game isn't going well bring on­ riera and go 4-4-2. while am ranting can people lay off­ lucas next season, the boy has a touch of class about­ him, just needs some help with confidence, he is only­ 22 which would make him a young talent, and a very good­ one at that
