Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent insists Serie A club Napoli have received an offer from Liverpool for the Argentina striker.
Napoli general director Pierpaolo Marino said on Thursday his club had not received any bids for Lavezzi while Reds boss Rafael Benitez has also denied any interest in the South American star.
However, Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni said: "Pierpaolo Marino continues to lie. I reiterate that a FIFA agent presented Napoli with an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi."
He added: "This was a formal procedure as the player cannot be contacted directly (by the interested club) because he is under contract with Napoli."
Lavezzi has been linked with a move away from Napoli this month following a dispute with his club over a contract extension.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Naples-based outfit in the summer of 2007, scored seven league goals this season.
Lavezzi is under contract with Napoli until June 2012.

post 19... whos TAVEZ?
LAVEZZI IS GOOD PLAYER VERRY GOOD PLAYER :d bUT POOL IS SHEET
comment to 21 PAUL H thats becouse your a man utd fan am so happy u lost tr7 at latest your double in the red 700m
7 goal a season striker would add??? to the team I think not so much! Please RAFA better give oppertunity to young players rather than wasting couple of million. WE NEED QUALITY NOT QUANTITY....
You won't be buying anyone in scouysland because you're potless and skint. ha ha ha
POST 10 - STICK TO A GIRLS SPORT LIKE NETBALL COS YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL.
Watching him playing at Napoli he reminds me of TAVEZ. Vary fast, good technique and scores goals......and he is much cheaper than TAVEZ.
Good choice Rafa.
i think lavezzi only can sit on the bench if torres, kuyt, ngog play.....he can be a fourth or fifth choice of foward.....
Benitez's denial was along the lines of "... we have not been in contact with Lavezzi" which is different from " ... we have notg been in touch about Lavezzi": "with" conveys a completely different meaning from "about " since he may well have been in contact with Napoli themselves. I have to say the agent comes across as an absolute bell-end, though.
Lavezzi operates as a second striker, with the freedom to roam either wing. He's a solid crosser who can also finish, but his speciality act is as simple as it is effective. He receives the ball, usually in space, beats a man, sucks a bunch of opponents towards him and then, one of three things happens: he either wins a free-kick, bursts through a knot of defenders or lays the ball off to a now unmarked teammate, because the opposition is entirely preoccupied with him.
"The threat of what Lavezzi might do is often greater than what Lavezzi actually does," says Catania manager Walter Zenga. "That's what makes him so dangerous. He makes his opponents worry."
Maybe we should remember "In rafa we Trust!"
I seen this guy on you tube and some of his goals this season came against, AC, Inter & Roma, He looks like a real talent and the type of player Rafa can mould into something great.. Cliche as it is but the ball is stuck to his feet.. And was the most fouled player in Serie A last season..Some of the tackles were Shocking and some of the hack downs were criminal, I say get him cuz he can play all across the midfield and up front.. IF we are limited to funds this summer I don't think he's gonna be to expensive and maybe if we offload some dead weight that'll add to the deal.
If this is true (which i highly doubt), i'm all for rafa resigning. Németh, Pacheco, Amoo, or Dalla Valle would be better, or even keeping hold of Voronin if nobody want him.
Negredo would be worth a punt but Lavezzi wouldn't even fit in a blackburn.
We really should be looking at Reals midfielder seeing that its overcrowded anyone for van der Vaart or Sneijder, how about a pay as you play deal with Robben.
lavezzi isnt a proven goalscorer, fair enough, but hes not an out and out striker, he plays kind of where dirk kuyt does now for us. i went to italy last year and his name is on the back of all the napoli shirts so he must be doing soemthing right there
divid villa is the player we should be going for...he,s a proven goal machine and will link up well with torres...id rather us spend big on 1 player than buy a load of unknown players for 5 mill here and 3 mill there...c,mon rafa give these yanks a kick up the backside
another duffa will sign for the @#$%e, keep them comming rafa, COYB
lets be honest here why i say again why would we want to sighn a player/striker that can only score 7 goals in a season ????????? come on now rafa if were going for a striker why not david villa from valencia he grew up with torres and was in the same academy if think if we brought such a player as villa to liverpool we would have the best pair of strikers in the premier league . i 110% think the next coming season is are's it's in the bag we should of won the premier just gone but man utd had so many 1-0 wins from there scorer ronaldo but now he's going lol get in there lol man utd have not got a chance this next season they will be lucky to finnish 3rd mark my words.
why do u say that? i would of thought a strikers exactly what liverpool want. who the hell did they have when torres was injured? n'gog?!!!
"the last thing liverpool need is strikers try a left mid or a full back" - john m
What the hell are you talking about? Thats the first thing we need you fool. We only have Torres, as soon as hes out who do we play up front? NGog? Yeah thatl win us the league.
Lavezzi can play on either wing or anywhere across the front line BTW.
is Liverpool gonna play 2-1-7 or what?
never heard ov him
