Yossi Benayoun has distanced himself from the prospect of a shock move to Barcelona, but admits he will have to discuss his future with Liverpool.
It has been claimed that the European champions have enquired about Benayoun, in the same week that fellow Reds midfielder Javier Mascherano was linked with the Catalan giants.
Benayoun, who has just two years left on his contract, said: "It could be Real Madrid knocking on my door, I would still rather stay at Liverpool. I have had some offers so maybe I need to talk with Liverpool."
He added: "At the moment I am a Liverpool player, and unless something surprising happens, I will remain one. But after such a good season, I have had some offers from England and Spain.
"You have to give that some consideration, so there will probably be some discussions with Liverpool."
Reds boss Rafael Benitez could soon tie up a deal to sell full-back Andrea Dossena to Juventus for £6.5m, after the Italian failed to settled at Anfield.
But talk of a Real Madrid move for Xabi Alonso will not go away.
Madrid sources have already linked young strikers Alvaro Negredo and Alberto Bueno as makeweights in any possible deal, while Argentina striker Javier Saviola is another option.
And Madrid have 31 year-old Gabriel Heinze in their squad, a player that Benitez was blocked from signing when the full-back was at Manchester United.

how has it come about alsonso, masch, torres, yossi, arbeloa etc are all going to leave liverpool? where has all the talk of dossena, lucas, babbel and the swiss right back thats name escapes me gone? voronin and the like can go! they are the dead weight! babbel will never make the premier league standard! he would do well in spain or germany where the game is slower but he doesn't have the bottle for the EPL! the spine is at anfield reina, carragher, skertel arbeloa, areleo, alsnos, mascha gerrard and torres (not forgetting kuyt, legend) come on yanks!!! sell up and get some cash into anfield!!!

Benayoun gives invention to a game, when he's brought on or starts he gives something important to a game surprise, you dont know what hes going to do he is unpredictable and its important to have players like that in a winning team..YNWA P.S. anyone still sneering over disasters should be given jail time, it is offensive no matter which team you support.
benayoun is a class player he's got,skill,pace,creativaty,stanima,and never mones weather sub or not,just gives 100percent at all times what more do you wont.just a great player to have all round

My only concern other than Rafa's slow start in the transfer market is that all the world class players will be bought and sold before the yanks get their wallets out, it's very frustrating watching the best players in the world moving with no mention of LFC.........I also think selling Benayoun for £12m is great business and if he gets 6.5m for Dossena he should get a knighthood.

Rafa, do not give in to this. Even if its 10mil + He was one of our best players last season and has the ability to change a game if brough off the bench. Also remember selling to Barca is selling to a competitor, bad business.
Basically other clubs are sniffing so am gonna go to rafa and ask for more money!! He was deperate to leave 6 months ago to get more first team chances and then he says he wouldn't even go to real madrid if asked but now he must discuss his future,footballers change their minds quicker than my missus!!!
Benayoun is a good player. I personally like his style of play and he gives moumentum to the game. He should stay. Especially because he wants to and he is picked up from last season. We should enjoy his potency
