Former England striker Robbie Fowler believes he can still perform in the Premier League after accepting a trial with Blackburn. The 33-year-old will join up with Rovers at their training camp in Germany before new manager Paul Ince decides whether to sign his former Liverpool team-mate.
Fowler spent last season at Cardiff, scoring six goals in 16 appearances, but the lure of the top flight - and his confidence he still has what it takes - made him turn his back on the Bluebirds.
Fowler told the Daily Mirror: "I don't think anyone at Cardiff can blame me for taking this opportunity because I still have a desire to play at the top level.
"Most importantly, I believe I can still do it.
"I could take the contract on offer at Cardiff and there are no guarantees that I will be taken on by Blackburn but at this stage of my career I've got to take a chance.
"I love playing and it doesn't matter what age you are, you want to play in the Premier League and I honestly think I can do it.
"I had injuries last season with Cardiff but when I played I was still scoring goals.
"I don't want to pack in just yet because I still think I've got something to offer.
"And I want to play. I still love football, still want to go out and do it and I'm really pleased that I have got a chance to show I can play in the Premier League."

Arguebly at his prime one of the best Strikers in the EPL i remember watching him always score against MAn U and his coke sniffing celebration. GOOD ON U ROBBIE!!!!!!!!!
well look who has god now lol just abit older but alot wiser aslong as robbie dont try and snort the white lines on the pitch he will show he is god again
Who can argue with him he is a top quality striker and even at 33 he will score goals. Plus having his experience in the club can only bring young talent on. Well done Paul Ince he will improve your side and bring experience.
