Pele has joined in the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga debate by insisting the Portugal international should see out his contract with Manchester United.
And the Brazil legend also suggested that Sepp Blatter's view that there is "modern slavery" in the game was wide of the mark.
Earlier this week the FIFA president was asked about Ronaldo's current situation and he replied that players who are tied to long-term contracts were treated like slaves. Ronaldo later said he agreed with Blatter's comments.
Pele, speaking ahead of a charity football match at Stoke's Britannia Stadium in aid of the Gordon Banks Foundation, said: "You are a slave if you work without a contract or you don't get paid.
"If you have a contract then in any job you have to finish the contract. I think that when he finishes his contract, then he should be free to go wherever he wants to go."

pele has always been the main man in football & words spoken so true.blatter out pele in for fifa president....
Someone should ask Ronaldo if he also feels like a slave to the phone company, the health care industry, security services, agents, Nike and other contractural obligations...Or maybe point him to wikipedia for the definition of "contract".
HAHA PELE FOR PRESIDENT? Get Real guys hes Black u think they will appoint black President of FIFA? LOL this is the real world even in 2008 its so obvious to see. But when u get Black American President hahaha u will see change in this world no doubt
I hardly think Ronaldo would want to see out a 4 year contract. More than likley he'll stay this season and then go to Mardid next season if they can actually afford the asking price (which is doubtful).
He was a better footballer than Blatter also. :)
someone who speaks sense and has played the game at the highest level possible and was without doubt one of the best players to ever grace the game .. move over idiot blatter and let someone who knows what they are talking about do a good job and get our game back to where it should be...
finally..... someone sane.....
I havve always known that Pele` was had more contribution off the field!!!
pele would make a better president for fifa than blatter that much is for sure
At last, a voice of reason - thanks Pele!
Thank you, Pele, for the comment, and your continuing contribution to football!
I agree with Pele's comment.
