League Two - Edwards to miss County's Austria tour

Notts County boss Ian McParland has confirmed defender Mike Edwards will not be joining the squad on their pre-season trip to Austria.

The 28-year-old (pictured, centre) will stay behind in the UK as his wife is due to give birth to their second child in the next few days.

Edwards has been given a fitness programme to follow while the rest of the squad continue their preparations.

McParland told the club's official website: "Mike is staying behind, as we predicted to be honest. If the baby arrives over the weekend there's a chance he may fly out at some stage next week, but it is a long shot.

"He's a fit lad regardless and he'll keep himself in shape I have no doubt while we are away."

Stephen Hunt underwent an abductor operation earlier this week and is ruled out for three months.
