Saints undone by Cherries

Sun 12 Jul, 09:03 AM

Southampton's new era began with a 2-1 friendly defeat at Bournemouth.

The Saints were taken over in midweek but were unable to get the better of the League Two side at Dean Court, with all three goals coming in a frantic eight-minute spell shortly after half-time.

Matt Patterson drilled the Saints into a 51st-minute lead after good work from Gregorz Rasiak, only for Liam Feeney to level matters five minutes later.

And Sammy Igoe helped Cherries boss Eddie Howe celebrate his new contract with a win when he rolled the ball into an empty net with 31 minutes remaining.

  1. To the foul mouthed moronic so called Saints fans at Bournemouth, who have no consideration for decent minded people, women and children, and to those maggots who think it amusing to chant sexual abuse to passing 15/16 year old girls - stay away from St. Mary's the club don't need you, football doesn't need you, society doesn't need you and the human race doesn't need you. Stay away!!
